Treatment
Anti-wrinkle
A consultation-led treatment that softens expression lines while keeping your natural movement.
Anti-wrinkle treatment helps soften the expression lines that form with repeated movement, such as frown lines between the brows, forehead lines and lines around the eyes.
The medicine used is a prescription-only medicine, so by law it can only be provided after a face-to-face consultation with a qualified prescriber, and it is not suitable for everyone. This page is here to inform rather than to advertise a product: the right starting point is always a consultation.
Discussed at consultation
How it works
Tiny amounts are injected into specific muscles to relax them, so the overlying skin creases less and lines softened by movement become less pronounced. It works on lines caused by movement; it does not add volume, and it does not treat lines that are present when your face is completely at rest.
What to expect
A consultation and assessment come first. The treatment itself is quick, using very fine needles, and most people return to their day straight away. Any effect usually begins within a few days and settles by around two weeks. There is little downtime, though minor redness, swelling or bruising can occur.
Results
Results are temporary, typically lasting around 3 to 4 months, after which treatment can be repeated to maintain the effect.
Who it is for
Adults bothered by expression lines, decided on an individual basis. It is a prescription-only medicine and is not suitable for everyone: it is not given during pregnancy or breastfeeding, or with certain medical conditions. Suitability is assessed at your face-to-face consultation.
Your safety
Done properly, by someone qualified.
Because this is a prescription-only medicine, it must be prescribed and given by a suitably qualified professional who has assessed you in person. Choosing a qualified, insured practitioner matters: when carried out correctly the risks are small, but poor technique can cause temporary effects such as a heavy or uneven brow. Your suitability and any risks are discussed fully at consultation.
